February made me shiver

Well no point complaining about winter because we are all in the same boat.  A big, white, Titanic type boat. 

 This month has mostly been about trying to stay sane while waiting for spring and in turn, we have accomplished a few things.  Darwin chose a couple of new lights and figured out a rather tricky electrical situation we have and now we have some more awesome light fixtures.  I am not exactly sure at which moment I because enamoured of lighting but I LOVE LAMP.

This month I got a great deal on an elliptical machine. The ladies' Kijiji ad read: "So you can see the New Year's resolution didn't exactly pan out and I already have a coat rack, so come buy this exercise machine."  She says it works great for purses and scarfs as well haha. Anyway now that my painting is done and I haven't yet started another project maybe I will actually get to use it.

In the fall I put some hyacinth bulbs in the basement to force and at the end of jJnuary I went down to check on them.  One of them got over eager for spring and was trying to bloom it's little heart out down there in the dark old crawlspace.  I brought it up but only now are the other bulbs starting to green up and none have flowers yet.

This was my last couple of week's projects and I am super glad to be done.  It certainly improves the appearance of  the house.  The stair case going up to the bedroom

Basketball sized holes and thousands of small dings and holes and gouges and scrapes.

Going up?  Not too inviting was it?

Don't you hate it when you are 10' up on a ladder and you lose your paintbrush or cleaning thingy? I could have used a spungee-cord hahahahaha. (I took the pic with my phone, which I had in my pocket in case I fell off the ladder and broke my neck and had to call 911.)

This was one of the grossest things I ever saw.  The walls were so dirty from maybe cigarette smoke and fireplace use that I had to wash them 4 times with a long handled BeeMop and then finally with a sponge.  Appreciate that the ceilings are 12' or more high

Looking up from the landing . Yes that used to be white popcorn ceiling. *barfs*  Two coats of Bin 123 primer required.  The white around the edges is the primer where i cut in the edges with the primer before rolling)

It also appears to me taht I did not post any pics of before and after in the living room.  The baseboards and window casings all had to come off and surprise = lots of wallpaper.

 Wow. So Fun. Much paper.

Maybe next month I will post a walk through of the rooms that are sort of done. I still have to buy a lot of new baseboard and trim and the stairs going up are my nect project which I am kind of anxious to st art. I think I am going to buy wood filler and fill in the parts of the wood stairs that have gaps and then ..... PAINT!  But what colour ... it will be a surprise to me too!

 For some  reason this dumb blog has decided I should not be able to add captions under any more pictures. So.. .here are the two new lights taht Dar picked out for the living room and they are so pretty and reflect so nice on that ceiling. LUV!!!

 And here is the one that he hung up in my newly clean and painted staircase.  Totally love it too.

Grosbeaks emptying the feeder.

Getting the pole up for our new internet since the other tripod blew off the roof.  Don and Dar worked all day in incredibly cold weather to get that up, and much of the next day. A new appreciation for the amount of labour it is to do something like that.

Looks a lot taller when it's up yup.  Going to put a yard light on there. And a flag.  Maybe a Pirate Flag YARRRRRR

Ok really that is all for now.  We are out at the farm off and on for the next few weeks while Darwin's folks are away.  On Friday I shoveled the walks and veranda and the large garage apron and then the apron to the shop.  Yesterday it blew and snew and now there are 3' drifts out there .  It looks super nice out today though, so I am off to shovel and play with doggies shortly and love me up some kitties.  Maybe play with some pretty dishes and enjoy the pretty surroundings.

Then we will head home to our house.  Maybe stop and get some wood filler so I can begin that staircase project and hopefully it will be as cool as it is in my mind.
